My Creations Recipe/ Photo Box

It will be a Cherry kind of week here on my blog.  I haven't really taken the time to feature the new products in the summer idea book so now is the time!

The My Creations Recipe/Photo Box (z1322) in made of sturdy, stampable chipboard.  It fits 4x6 recipe cards, photos and index cards.  The new Originals Sugar & Spice recipe card kit (x8625) was made to fit this box too!

For my box, I used CTMH Bonding Memories Glue (1512) to adhere Cherry-O Level II paper packet (x 7123B).  I stamped the stitched borders of the paper with the stamp set "Togetherness" (D1402), used Clear Buttons (z1155) adhered to B&T with the glue, and Chocolate Waxy Flax (z1088).    The recipe card kit is shown inside.  The word "recipe" was created by sponging the "Irresistibles Lots of Dots" letters (z1261) with Chocolate ink.  The project took a very short time and I am looking forward to filling it with recipes and taking it to our cabin.

I am working on another box that will have my photos "to be scrapbooked" in it.  This will be an easy way to sort and prep photos so they are easily accessible on my desk when I have time to scrapbook.  Other ideas for this box?  What about a box of treasures for a child?  What about a cleaning card box?  Check this idea out here

Watch for a workshop to create your own box coming up in June.

Heart 2 Heart Challenge

This weeks challenge was a color challenge.  I love to play with color but for some reason, I am not as pleased with these cards.  I did take two different roads, one bright and the other more distressed.  But, I know that if I keep challenging myself, I grow!  Enjoy these cards and visit the website for more artwork using this color challenge.  Hey, even try it yourself!

Reliving the Mediterranean Cruise

In October of 2008, Jeff and I celebrated our 20th anniversary on a Mediterranean cruise which I earned through Close to My Heart.  When the company announced the trip, I knew I had to earn it!  It was an opportunity of a life time and to coincide with our anniversary was perfect.  While on my retreat last weekend, I was scrap booking some of the final photos we had taken.  Before I left, I was under the impression that I was almost done but 32 pages later, well, I am almost done, again!

But, scrap booking these photos, brought me back to a event that was very meaningful for me.  I had worked very hard and earned something I was very excited about, both the cruise and 20 years of marriage!  In addition, my mom had passed away just two weeks prior to the cruise.  You can imagine I experienced all kinds of feelings on that trip.  As I continued to put the photos on the pages, share stories with my friends, and recognize the emotions, I was blessed once again by an experience that was over 18 months ago in time but with refreshed, fond memories.  Where are your memories?

As you might notice, many of the journaling spots on these and future pages I share about the cruise are blank.  I look forward to sitting down with Jeff and remembering and journaling together.

This layout was created by a fellow cruiser from CTMH using the Vintage Travel paper packet.  Although this is now retired from our Idea Book, you can still use the paper for scrap booking through our Studio J online scrap booking.  Give it a try!

These pages were done in the new "Passages" My Reflections Kit (x7126B) featured in the summer idea book.  I have to admit, since I had done much of that album in the Vintage Travel paper, it was nice to use a different paper packet that coordinated so well.  I will be doing a workshop with this paper later this summer.  Here's my preview!

Home Again!

Last weekend, I hosted a scrapbooking retreat at Camp Casey on Whidbey Island.  My absence here has been due to the prep and time at the retreat which was worth every minute.  To get away with awesome ladies, have time to scrapbook at leisure, the gorgeous weather, walks on the beach and much more, was refreshing.

Here is a Studio J layout that I created from photos taken on a walk on Friday morning.  I came back into the crop room, sat down with my laptop and started creating.  Today I fixed up a couple of loose ends but in under 30 minutes total, here it is.  Just a taste of a great weekend.

Have you tried Studio J yet?  If not, go here and play!  It is easy to get started and there is no cost to until you are ready to order your prints.

Where has the time gone this week?

1.    Two day crop on Friday and Saturday, and a gathering on Sunday.  Lots of stamping and scrapping time with a great group of gals.

2.  A new Summer Idea Book with lots of new product to try.  Planning for summer workshops and events that will knock your socks off!

2.    Orders and more orders for the Miracle kit special.  This is a fabulous offer and I am doing a workshop Friday June 4th to create 14 cards from this kit.  Beautiful cards, inspired by Becky Lehman.  Still time to join us.

3.    Two days to the barn for horseback riding, one track meet, one PTA meeting, a Pampered Chef party and a Girl Scout service project sewing to make "ditty" bags for a homeless shelter.  Did I mention 50 of them?

4.    A 30 minute hail storm with pellets the size of Kix cereal.  Just had to sit and watch it, it was amazing.  And it was in MAY!

5.    Caterpillars that have turned into chrysalis, transforming into butterflies.  This was a gift for Marissa's birthday and it is amazing to just sit and watch!

Hopefully the flash didn't do them in!  We haven't had much direct sunlight!

6.   Studying for social studies test about the first colonies.  Much more interesting as an adult and hopefully helping my fifth grader to understand it better than I did as a fifth grader!

7.   Finally, a little creative time squeezed in between for the Heart 2 Heart Challenge, using the May stamp of the month, and making Mother's day cards.  (Now I just need to get them in the mail)!

For last weeks H2H Challenge, two ribbons, and for this week, a Mother's Day card.  Take a look at the challenge and participate each week!  It keeps creativity fresh!

And a thank you card to all of you for continuing to read and comment on my blog!
